Lagos Signs Deal with Firm to Boost Water Supply Infrastructure

Lagos State The government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with an international group comprising Belstar and ENKA companies to undertake the renovation and enlargement of the state’s water supply facilities.

Following the ceremony held at Alausa, Ikeja, yesterday, Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, stated during his speech that this partnership was designed to tackle significant issues related to water infrastructure.

"The project involves building, refurbishing, and setting up water treatment plants along with distribution systems to ensure a consistent and eco-friendly water supply for underprivileged areas," he stated.

Wahab mentioned that the project would involve setting up new water systems to address distribution issues. He added that the state government will guarantee strict adherence to all applicable rules, encompassing both social and safety guidelines.

He mentioned that the initiative consisted of two main sections: the Brownfield component focused on restoring and upgrading current water systems, whereas the Greenfield section encompassed building brand-new infrastructure across different areas of the state.
