New Delhi [India], April 29 (ANI): The National Archives of India (NAI) serves as the guardian of the government of India’s permanent records, safeguarding them for the benefit of officials and scholars under the guidelines set forth by the Public Records Act of 1993. Acting as a leading archive, NAI plays this crucial role. National Archives of India is crucial in fostering the nation's awareness of archiving, as stated by the Ministry of Culture.
In addition to its extensive archive of public records, the National Archives of India also maintains an impressive and continually expanding collection of personal documents belonging to prominent Indians from various fields, who have significantly impacted the country.
Continuing the tradition, they moved ahead with the National Archives of India (NAI) has obtained the personal documents of the deceased Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam , including original correspondences, passports, Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, tour reports, and lectures delivered by Dr. Kalam at different universities and organizations. This compilation also includes numerous original photographs. The collection was generously donated by Dr. APJM Nazema Maraikayar, who is Dr. Kalam’s niece, and APJMJ Sheikh Saleem, his grand-nephew, to the institution. National Archives of India .
Arun Singhal The IAS, who serves as the Director General of the National Archives, entered into an accord with Dr. APJM Nazema Maraikayar. During the signing ceremony, APJM Jainulabudeen, the nephew of Dr. Kalam, along with APJMJ Sheikh Dawood, his grandnephew, were present.
Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam (1931-2015), famously recognized as the " Missile Man of India," was a distinguished scientist who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, coming from modest beginnings but achieving remarkable success through his dedication and perseverance.
Following his education in physics and aerospace engineering, he made substantial contributions to India’s missile advancement initiatives and was instrumental in thePokhran-II nuclear tests conducted in 1998. Collaborating with entities such as DRDO and ISRO, he bolsteredIndia's defense and space technologies. For these accomplishments, he received multiple accolades, notablythe country’s top honor for civilians, the Bharat Ratna.
In addition to his scientific achievements, Dr. Kalam was profoundly dedicated to motivating the young people of India. Among his various accomplishments were several impactful books like " Wings of Fire ", 'Ignited Minds,' and 'India 2020,' all focused on thinking ambitiously and constructing a more robust nation. Revered as the 'People's President' due to his down-to-earth and accessible demeanor, Kalam devoted his time after leaving office to educating and nurturing youthful talent.
