We'll Keep Making a Positive Impact on Lagos Residents' Lives — Sanwo-Olu
On Tuesday, Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that his administration continues to have a positive impact on the lives of Lagos residents.
At the Eid-el-Fitr event organized by the First Family of Lagos State and the Ministry of Home Affairs at Lagos House, Marina, Governor Sanwo-Olu delivered remarks. The theme for this gathering was 'My Lord, indeed I am here, do grant me what is best in my time of need.'
The governor stated that his administration will keep providing effective governance to improve the lives of people in Lagos.
He stated: "I'm glad everyone joined us today to share this moment together. We extend our gratitude to all our Muslim brothers and sisters. We appreciate each one of you for trusting our administration. May God Almighty always bless us with peace and harmony."
We extend our gratitude to all our religious leaders for their support, and we assure you that we will keep providing effective leadership that will impact your lives. Our faith will persistently rejuvenate with each passing year. We look forward to celebrating numerous Eid-al-Fitr festivities.
"We will meet again during another Ramadan next year." Governor Sanwo-Olu additionally encouraged individuals planning to undertake the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage to make sure they are fit and healthy prior to their departure.
"Starting in May, individuals planning pilgrimages to Mecca will commence their journeys. Our prayers are with them as we wish for safe travels and returns. I urge those whose health is not optimal to reconsider going for Hajj next year in 2025," he stated.
In his speech, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, encouraged citizens to keep thanking God for the renewal, progress, and communal advancement of Lagos following the month of Ramadan.
Dr. Hamzat instructed the people of Lagos, especially Muslim believers, to treat their neighbors kindly.
"Exhibit empathy, demonstrate compassion, treat your neighbors kindly, and keep faith in the benevolence of Almighty Allah," he counseled.
Earlier, during her welcoming speech, Mrs. Dr. Claudicana Sanwo-Olu, the First Lady of Lagos State, encouraged citizens to be attentive to those who are less fortunate within their communities and to demonstrate kindness towards them.
She stated, "While enjoying the festivities, let us not forget about those who are less fortunate. Let's lend a supportive hand to individuals facing difficulties and make sure that the essence of generosity and sharing stays central to our everyday existence."
Genuine devotion extends past rituals; it is evident in the way we interact with each other and in our efforts to improve our state and country for tomorrow, not just during this meeting. Let's reaffirm our belief in Nigeria and continue praying unwaveringly.
Dr. Munirudeen Ar-Riyardy, who visited as a guest speaker from Lagos State University of Education located in Oto/Ijanikin, presented the talk titled 'My Lord, Indeed I Am Prepared, For Whatever Good You Would Bestow Upon Me In My Time Of Need - Q28:24.'
He stated: "The topic for today's lecture revolves around the trials of life and maintaining our faith in God. Regardless of the difficulties we face, we must not curse our leaders; instead, we ought to steer clear of sins that could distance us from Almighty Allah's mercy."
During his vote of thanks, Lagos State’s Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Layode, encouraged Muslims to keep adhering to the principles of Islam.
At the Eid-al-Fitr event, attendees included Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, who is married to the Deputy Governor; Senator Oluranti Adebule, previously the Deputy Governor of Lagos State; Mr. Bode Agoro, serving as the Head of Service; Mr. Tayo Ayinde, acting as Chief of Staff; representatives from the Lagos State Executive Council along with key governmental figures; Grand Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Sulaiman Abu Nolla; and the Chief Imam overseeing Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, and Epe regions.
