Tinubu Honors Prof. Mobolaji Aluko on His 70th Birthday

President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Professor Mobolaji Aluko, who was the inaugural Vice-Chancellor at the Federal University of Otuoke located in Bayelsa State, as he celebrates his 70th birthday.

On Wednesday morning, Tinubu, through a statement issued by his spokesman Bayo Onanuga, extended congratulations alongside family members, friends, and supporters to celebrate the accomplished chemical engineering professor and ex-Chair of the Chemical Engineering Department at Howard University in Washington, D.C., U.S.A. The celebration was held in recognition of his significant achievements in education, engineering, democratic principles, and societal progress.

President Tinubu warmly remembers Professor Aluko's significant contribution alongside other Nigerian expatriates in the United States to the pro-democracy movement and appreciates his insightful thoughts on various national matters.

Prof Aluko resided in the United States for numerous years and achieved notable success both professionally and academically before returning to Nigeria with the aim of contributing to the country’s progress.

President Tinubu praises him for establishing a strong base for the Federal University of Otuoke.

President Tinubu additionally noted that after his time as vice-chancellor, Aluko worked in Ekiti State as the Director-General of the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD) from 2019 to 2022. During this period, he also took charge of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities for a short duration.

Aluko currently serves as the Infrastructure and Public Utilities Commissioner under Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

"As Professor Aluko reaches this notable landmark, President Tinubu wishes for the Almighty to bestow upon him ongoing strength, wisdom, and wellness, enabling him to keep contributing his irreplaceable services to both the country and mankind," stated the President in the release.
