Discover the Lavish Palaces of Turin: An International Edition

Three of the city's palaces – the Reale, Madama and Carignano – offer a fascinating window into Turin's past. Learn all the secrets of the House of Savoy when you buy a single ticket for all three.

Turin's old town is a vast alfresco museum where hundreds of years of history is etched in its squares and palaces. The Palazzo Reale – or Royal Palace – is a gem of 17th century architecture, the residence of the royal Savoy family until 1865 and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its state apartments have been brilliantly preserved, such as the throne room, decked out in precious wood panelling, the Chinese cabinet with its exceptional original lacquerware, and the ballroom. If you take a tour of the interior, don't skip the chance to visit the library, which houses the famous Codex on Bird Flight By Leonardo da Vinci, or the Royal Armoury with its vast array of weapons and armor.

Situated in a different section, the Galleria Sabauda exhibits around 700 pieces of artwork created by European artists ranging from the 13th to the 20th centuries. Extend your tour into the royal gardens and proceed towards the Palazzo Madama with its highly esteemed Baroque exterior. The main stairway merits a visit solely for itself, along with its assortment of medieval-to-modern era artworks. Just a short walk away lies another architectural marvel of the Baroque period: the Palazzo Carignano. This structure served as the location of Italy’s inaugural parliament between 1861 and 1865; nowadays, it houses the Museum of the Risorgimento, detailing the nation's story starting from the Siege of Turin in 1706 up until the establishment of the Italian Republic in 1946. Quite captivating indeed!
